I was skeptical about adding pads to my straps, but after a 3-hour hike with a loaded pack my shoulders didn't ache at all. The kit even includes the leather glue, so I didn't have to hunt any down.

The merino felt pads turned my stiff leather straps into something I can wear all day without shoulder ache. Instructions were clear enough that I had them on in about 15 minutes, and the glue in the kit actually held.

The adhesive held firmly while I worked, and the felt wraps around the straps without any bunching. I’ve done two long walks since installing them and the pressure points are basically gone. Instructions were clear enough that even I got it right the first time.
